I’m a retired Warner Bros. employee who now creates to my heart’s content when I’m not in my garden which is equally as creative.
I’ve been an artist in one kind of media or other as long as I can remember and have operated under the Claire Originals banner. Now that I sell on Etsy, my shop names have changed, but my love of art remains. Some of my stuff is a little kooky and I hope you can tell how much fun I have making my things.
I'm going to attempt to share my thoughts and creativity, an occasional recipe, or maybe even a gardening tip or two.

Even Queens Have Dirty Dishes
Believe it or not, we Queens do have dirty dishes. It does not mean, we can't do them, or have them done in style.
So I crochet tulle dish scrubbers to match my Castle's kitchen. My Sometimes King John boyfriend does the hand washing and the Queen loads the dishwasher. I do chores for majestic fun sometimes.
And I've been very frustrated trying to teach myself the ins and outs of bloggin, so I decided to do this post. The Queen WILL get it, or will find a loyal subject to help her blog. So bear with me while I learn, and then I'll share some of my thoughts and creations.
Here is how I did the scrubbers: I started with a roll of 6" brown tulle and a large crochet hook.
I began with 5 chain stitches and joined them to form a circle.
Then I began doing single crochet in the circle as many as would comfortably fit. (The King doesn't like his fingers poking through the holes...off with his head!) Sorry, I digress...
On the next row, put the needle through the top loop of the previous row's stitches and repeat as for the first row. At this point it begins to roll in slightly. To help flatten it out, I used a single crochet, chain stitch, single crochet, chain stitch pattern on the 3rd row. I then closed the crochet by pulling a long length (6 feet or so) to use to weave in and out of the holes in the crochet. Remember, we want the King's fingers happy, so we want to fill in gaps. When you've done that, tie off the tulle and cut off any excess.
Final result: A crude, but very effective dish scrubber. And one that matches the kitchen. ArtQueenClaire is very particular about her colors!
